In the latest high-profile row between China and Japan, a c0nd0m maker in Guangzhou is suing a Japanese manufacturer for the title of "world's thinnest c0nd0m".
According to the South China Morning Post, Guangzhou Daming United Rubber Products sued Okamoto Industries in a Guangzhou district court on Thursday over its use of the words "world record thinness" on the packaging of its products.
In December of 2013, Daming was named Guinness World Record holder after its c0nd0ms were certified to have an average thickness of 0.036 millimeters. Okamoto had previously been awarded the record in 2012, with an average thickness of 0.038 millimeters.
Daming, which sells its condoms under the AONI brand, asked for a ruling which would force Okamoto to remove the claim from its packaging and advertising, and pay a token one yuan fine as compensation.
Okamoto has fiercely rejected Daming's demands, submitting third-party test reports which it claimed demonstrated that Daming's products were not thinner than 0.036 millimeters.
Regardless of whether or not the c0nd0ms are as thin as they say, they're super stretchy:
