A 27-year-old engineer from Jiangsu Province, China spent extensive time, energy and effort in planning, constructing and painting a complete Iron Man costume, only to finally try it on and discover that he was a few pounds too heavy to become a superhero.NetEase reports that Cheng was inspired after watching the latest Iron Man film (with extra Fan Bingbing) in the theater alongside his younger brother, who is a big fan. Cheng also admitted that he had another important thing going for him: "Because I've always been single, I often have a lot of time on my hands. The idea of constructing an Iron Man suit just popped into mind."
Cheng studied electronic engineering at university and went at the project with gusto, searching online for information when he got stuck and needed help. He used plastic instead of metal to cut down on costs, and despite working away for six months, he only ended up spending 500 RMB in making the suit. While it currently lacks an Arc Reactor, it does have pretty sweet LED lights in the eyes and hands.
