US First Lady Michelle Obama was a special guest at an east London school - Mulberry School for Girls - this morning as she visits Britain to issue a plea for more help for the world’s poorest girls to get educated. At the school, Michelle hugged and laughed with the girls & highlighted her campaign to make girls’ education ‘an urgent economic issue’.
Earlier this morning Mrs Obama, her daughters Sasha and Malia, and her mother Marian Robinson, enjoyed tea with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace - with a photograph expected to be released later in the day.
After visiting the school she will meet with David Cameron in Downing Street to appeal to the Prime Minister as a parent to help girls around the world to attend school. Mrs Obama wants to use the visit to discuss joint work between Britain and America to boost education for adolescent girls across the world through the Let Girls Learn initiative, championed by her and her husband, US president Barack Obama.
