The Swiss, who was announcing that his departure as president will not be final until February, was stopped in his tracks by an intruder throwing fake banknotes over him
Fifa president Sepp Blatter had an uncomfortable surprise on Monday as his press conference was disrupted by a prankster.
The Swiss, who was announcing the February 26 date of the election to succeed him, was showered with fake banknotes by British 'comedian' Simon Brodkin.
With security slow to react, Brodkin - who goes by the stage name Lee Nelson - declared himself a delegate "for North Korea 2026 World Cup" as he made his less-than-subtle point about the corruption scandal that continues to engulf Fifa.
An uncomfortable Blatter quickly left the room, saying that "we have to clean here" - a statement which arguably did not contradict Mr Brodkin's point.
"Cheers, Sepp. It's all there as discussed," he shouted as he was led away. "Thank you. Good doing business."
Brodkin had previously caused a stir at Glastonbury in June when he interrupted Kanye West's headline set.
